ASEAN Conference 2017

vCargo Cloud was proud to host a booth together with DeClout and DeClout’s subsidiary, Procurri at the ASEAN Conference 2017: The Next Economic Force. The one-day event held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre on 4 May 2017, brought together key ASEAN government officials, prominent business leaders from some of the world’s top multinational brands and high growth companies to share their insights and strategies for the region.

Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade & Industry (Trade), highlighted that the digital economy will be a key priority for ASEAN next year as Singapore takes over chairmanship of the regional bloc. This is timely as ASEAN is expected to become the fourth largest economy by 2030. Minister Lim also encouraged countries to remain open to trade and investment for them to reap mutual economic growth. To facilitate trade internationalisation measures, Singapore will focus on introducing a region-wide certification regime and building the ASEAN Single Window (ASW).

Facilitating electronic exchange of shipment information

ASEAN member countries are also keen on e-commerce and the digital economy. The ASW will facilitate electronic exchange of shipment information between traders and governments, between exporting and importing countries that expedites cargo clearance processes, reducing cost and time of doing business. Regional trade rules will be streamlined as a result and improved trade flows will encourage efficiency and competitiveness.

vCargo Cloud took the opportunity to share our experience in implementing software solutions as well as providing BPO services in the region to the conference attendees.
