The Seafood Xchange – Singapore’s First B2B Online Seafood Wholesale Marketplace for Seafood Traders
On 10 June 2019, VCC launched the Seafood Xchange, Singapore’s first B2B online seafood wholesale marketplace for seafood traders. The Seafood Xchange launch event gathered over 250 guests from the seafood industry, financial Institutions, associations, service providers and government agencies at the Esplanade. It was also an honour to have Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Dr Koh Poh Koon gracing our event, amidst his busy schedule.
The initiative of this platform is part of the government’s industry digital plan and is a collaboration between IMDA, Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Food Agency. The partnership and full support given by Punggol Fish Merchants Association, Seafood Industries Association Singapore and Singapore Fish Merchants’ General Association have also contributed to the success.
As a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) based in Singapore, VCC sees the need to provide our support to other Singapore SMEs, by doing what we do best, to develop a platform to help them grow internationally.
Laborious paper processes still dominate the seafood industry. With the Seafood Xchange, it will simplify the wholesale seafood trading process by allowing traders to buy and sell their frozen, fresh and chilled seafood products worldwide. The platform also connects seafood traders to other service providers such as customs, traders, logistics providers and financial institutions to facilitate a seamless and simplified trading experience.
One of the highlights of the event was definitely the light-hearted Seafood Xchange video.
