2018 Cambodia Outlook Conference – Science and Technology for Industrialisation, Economic Growth and Development in Cambodia

On 15th March 2018, vCargo Cloud Pte Ltd (VCC) was honoured to participate in the 2018 Cambodia Outlook Conference formed by a Partnership of Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI) and ANZ Royal Bank, which was held at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This conference explored themes around the broad area of ‘Science and Technology for Industrialisation, Economic Growth and Development in Cambodia’. The programme was structured around three core issues: successful S&T model; education for S&T; and S&T for industrialisation, growth and development. VCC’s CEO, Mr Desmond Tay, played a pivotal role in the conference by being one of the panelists in the panel discussion, shared his thoughts on what makes a successful Science & Technology (S&T) model.

The Cambodia Outlook Conference was established to combat the lack of quality and high-level policy dialogue for Cambodia’s immediate and long-term development strategy. CDRI forged a formal partnership with ANZ Royal Bank to create this constructive platform to discuss policies with key stakeholders. This yearly conference gathers around 400 leaders from national and sub-national government, Asian regional development communities, and civil society. Invited guest panelists contribute valuable feedback and policy recommendations that will be imperative in aiding Cambodia in its national growth and development.

Being a veteran in the trade and logistics industry with a strong technology acumen and acute sense of upcoming market trends, Mr Desmond Tay expressed, “The growth of the economy is intertwined with the growth of science and technology. Development in this sector is often funded by private companies but needs to be a collaborative effort with researchers and government officials.” His passionate pursuit in delivering the best technology solutions catering to the ever-changing market demands has made impressions during the panel discussion with his valuable input on how to develop the optimal S&T model that is essential for Cambodia’s economic growth as a nation.
